22Rescue1. Our “rescue units” are medically licensed, 1st responder vehicles, that we use to respond to all medical calls. South Torch Lake Fire District responds to every medical call dispatched within our service area to assist the responding ambulance. We also contract with Milton Township to provide 1st responder coverage to the south end of Milton Township, and with Custer Township to provide 1st responder coverage to the S/W 1/3rd of Custer Township. More times than not we arrive on scene first, ahead of the ambulance. We have on our roster 6 Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) and 3 Emergency Medical 1st Responders (EMR).
22Res1 was purchased new in 2016. It carries a large list of medical equipment including, an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), a LUCAS III chest compression system, an Oxygen/Airway kit, and a fully equipped trauma kit. It has an on-board computer system that connects us to Antrim County Central Dispatch. It has an Automatic Vehicle Location system (AVL) that allows dispatch to “see” where we are located at all times.
