If you or a loved one could find it difficult to get to the door to provide entry for emergency responders such as police, fire fighters and EMS personnel, the department’s Residential Knox Box Program may be the answer. Residents of Helena Township can take advantage of this program, which provides for the installation of a secure key vault outside your door. Emergency responders can open the vault with a special master key, and retrieve the key to your home from inside.
The department will install the Knox Box at no charge. When you move, or no longer require the Knox Box, the Fire Department will retrieve it.
To sign up for this program and have a Knox Box installed at your home, or if you would like additional information, please contact Chief Fabiano at 231-331-4204. For information on Knox Box products, please visit www.knoxbox.com.

Keys to vital areas of your business are required to be placed within the KnoxBox. Vital areas include the main entry door, an interior master key, roof hatches, and fire sprinkler rooms. The Fire Department understands that the cost of a key is often far less than the cost of repairing a damaged door or frame. Knox Boxes are able to be ordered directly from KnoxBox.com. If your Knox Box is capable of holding additional keys, they can be placed in the box as well. After you’ve installed the box, contact the Fire Department at 231-331-4204 to make arrangements for securing your keys inside.
Besides out Knox Box Loaner Program for residents with medical issues, the Fire Department allows residents the ability to purchase a residential KnoxBox for installation on their residence.
