Engine / Rescue ?? What is an engine rescue? In 2018 the fire department replaced a 1999 Chev/US Tanker fire engine and a 1991 Chev pick-up truck that was used as a rescue truck. The two trucks were replaced by a single fire truck that now doubles as an engine / rescue truck. The new truck has all the fire fighting equipment (1500 gpm water pump, 1000 gallons of water, foam, hoses, nozzles, adapters, ladders, hand tools, fans, and SCBA tanks) along with rescue equipment (battery operated hydraulic tools “Jaws of Life”, lifting air bags, stabilization struts, battery operated hand tools, wood cribbing, electric winch). The truck has its own air system to refill SCBA tanks.
In 2018 the truck, without all the equipment, cost $ 637,184.00 . Hopefully, we can get 20 to 25 years of service before we need to purchase a replacement. The projected cost of a new truck in 2043 is $ 1,910,000.00 . This is why putting money into a capitol improvement fund every year is so important for the future of the fire department.
